Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of human behavior and cultures around the globe. Anthropology asks, “What makes human beings so distinct? How have we changed over time? What factors (such as biology, culture, or environment) influence the ways we behave? How can we better understand differences between us?” To get at these questions, anthropologists study almost everything, from globalization to healing practices to business transactions.
Human Development and Family Studies
Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) offers an interdisciplinary focus on understanding development across the lifespan (from prenatal development to death) in the context of family, society/community, and culture. The HDFS program is designed to work with students from Freshmen to Seniors, so all course levels are open to all without prerequisites.

Philosophy
Philosophy is the rigorous examination of life's most fundamental questions: about knowledge, existence, morality, reason, and the nature of reality. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the Philosophy minor challenges students to think critically and vigorously, analyze complex arguments, and express their ideas clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in speech. These skills complement virtually any field of study and are particularly valuable for students considering careers in law, medicine, government, business, or public policy, as well as those planning to pursue graduate or professional study.
