Information Security


ITS provides firewall services for protection of access to the University’s information resources. This includes administration of rules which define what network traffic is allowed to flow into the University network from the Internet, and what network traffic from the campus is allowed to reach information resources in the University datacenter.  If you have any specific firewall related concerns - please contact ITS directly at x2420.

Questions or concerns regarding spam or malware activity can be routed to the Information Security team by contacting the ITS Help Desk at (361) 593-HELP (4357).

You can also open up your own support ticket by logging into the ITS Help Desk Portal with your full email address and password.

Suspicious looking emails should be forwarded to our TAMUK Email Verification address at: verify.email@tamuk.edu 

Information Security Awareness training is required annually. The training is provided by the TAMU System using TrainTraq, which can be located by logging into your Single Sign On account and selecting TrainTraq link under the SSO Menu.

iTech employs a number of measures to ensure spam does not reach a user’s inbox. Office 365 has multiple spam filters installed out-of-the-box. Web filter also safeguards the web viewing experience by checking the origin or content of a web page.
