Accounts & Passwords


An account is automatically created for new students and employees. During this automated process, the username (e.g. kuabc123), student/employee (e.g. K00123456), and email address will be created for student, staff, and faculty. A student’s account is created after they have been accepted to the University. Staff and faculty’s account is created via the Human Resources hiring process.

Students, staff, and faculty can reset their password on the ITS Password Reset pageThis self-service reset page does not require your old password and you will be able to view your email address and user name.  To log-in, you will need your Student/Faculty/Staff ID (BannerID/K-number example: K00123456) and Birthdate (MMDDYY).

LDAP is normally used for authentication for third party services. Active Directory is used for authentication.

Single Sign On (SSO) to web and mobile applications supports CAS and SAML2. SSO is provided to JNet portal, Blackboard Learn LMS, Blackboard Connect Emergency Messaging, Accellion, ITS Help Desk, Office 365, JCAL via Ad Astra, and Starfish.
