Tuition & Fees

Guaranteed Tuition Rate

Effective Fall 2014, state law HB 29 required all public institutions in Texas to offer a guaranteed tuition plan for Undergraduate resident students for 4 years of their undergraduate career.

Texas A&M University-Kingsville elected to include both resident and non-resident undergraduate students in the 4-year tuition plans.

New undergraduate students are placed into the new Guaranteed Tuition plan (JPAK) of the current academic year. Transfer students are placed into 1 of 4 active JPAKs based on their earned credit hours that transfer into the university.

For transfer students, the guaranteed tuition rates are not guaranteed based on your tenure at this particular University but rather guaranteed on the basis of the life of your undergraduate career. Therefore, time and hours spent before transferring to TAMUK will impact the JPAK upon entrance and determine it's longevity.

Distance Education Fee

Students with an admission term of fall 2020, or returning students who receive a fee waiver, may be assessed a distance education fee ($60 per SCH) on certain 600 section level courses.

Online courses provided in the College of Business will continue with the existing fee structure of $60 per SCH for undergraduate students and $125 per SCH for graduate students.

For the fall 2020 semester, the distance education fee will be automatically waived for the following groups:

  • Continuing students who started at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in the 2019-2020 academic year or before and have not been granted a distance fee waiver for the fall semester.
  • All distance education courses with section numbers in the 400’s
  • Distance education courses with section numbers in the 600’s that did not exist in the 2019-2020 academic year
  • All undergraduate lower level courses (1000 and 2000 level courses)

The phased-in approach to the distancing education fee relieves many new students from additional fees during the pandemic.
