Michelle earned her Masters of Science in Psychology in 2015 from Texas A&M University—Kingsville. She also attained her Bachelor’s degree from Psychology at TAMUK. While attaining her degrees, Michelle worked as a Service Learning Coordinator for Dr. Blake. She was also the graduate assistant for Dr. Green, who was the graduate coordinator for Sociology. During graduate school, Michelle worked for The Behavioral Health Center of Nueces County. She works with children from ages 5-17 who were diagnosed with mood disorder, depression, suicide ideation, and in crisis intervention. When she graduated from Graduate school, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she worked at Choices of Louisiana, A private methadone clinic. There she worked with adults, who were addicted to opiates, she counseled them and worked with them in methadone maintenance. When Michelle decided to move back to her hometown she worked with BCFS Projects Hopes, in Prevention of abuse and malnutrition in children from ages 0 to 5. Now she is a lecturer here at TAMUK.

Family Information:

Michelle and her husband Raul Martinez, have two beautiful girls named Eleanor Rose Martinez and Margaret Ann Martinez. Ellie is 2 years old and Maggie will be 1 in February. Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and taking her girls to extra-curricular activities which include, swim classes and soccer.
