Dr. Anders Greenspan

Professor of History

Anders Greenspan received his B.A. degree from Brandeis University and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington.  His dissertation research focused on the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg, a Rockefeller-funded project to restore and interpret the eighteenth-century capital of Virginia.  The second edition of his book on Colonial Williamsburg was published by the University of North Carolina Press in 2009.  Dr. Greenspan's further research concerns the role of American volunteers in the Spanish Civil War. He teaches both halves of the introductory U.S. history survey, as well as upper level classes in modern American history.  In his spare time, he enjoys reading and sending his colleagues postcards from a variety of exotic foreign destinations.
