Art

The Art Program provides Art Majors with a comprehensive emersion in studio art that prepares students for an entry-level position in the world of art. The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program is tailored to two groups. The first (BFA) equips students with the requisite skills to continue with graduate studies.  The BFA with an Education Certification provides students with the visual skills to pursue a public school art teaching career.  A Bachelors of Arts degree is also offered for students who wish to double major in another discipline or focus on a more broadly based liberal arts education. The art program is comprised of core a group of foundation courses that all art students must complete. This core group of classes also fulfills the fine arts requirements for university general education requirements. Emphases in graphic design, painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture are available.

Communication

The Speech Program is focused on human communication with the capacity to inform and motivate others.  This emphasis on influence produces students who go on to become successful lawyers, teachers, business people, politicians and productive members of society.  Through the study of instrumental human symbolic interaction the individual becomes comfortable in interpersonal settings, proficient in public discourse and able to guide groups toward shared goals. Our program combines traditional communication theory and connection with media that puts students in a competitive position to face the challenges of today’s evolving workplace in both complexity and the technological demands that impact communication at every level.

Theatre Arts

Come play a part in the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Theatre Arts program. Participation and dedication will prepare you for professional theatre, graduate work, internships and/or education. Students interested in learning the different fields related to drama and performing arts can enroll at TAMUK and strive to earn a minor and teaching certification in Theatre Arts.

As our education preparation has been important for our students, we also will help prepare the student for the professional theatre and film world; in the fields of acting, directing, musical theatre, design and artistic administration.
