    • Abdiel De Hoyos
      Texas A&M University-Kingsville
    • Abdiel De Hoyos grew up in Brownsville, Texas and is a senior at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. After starting his education at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the wildlife program in Kingsville offered greater career possibilities in line with his interests, so he transferred this past spring semester. Although not growing up in an outdoorsy family, Abdiel understood the importance of natural resource management and conservation. He hopes to be able to work for either a state or federal agency in order to serve local communities.

    • Abigail Nichols was born in Beeville, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. For as long as she can remember, she has traveled to state and national parks across the US. She has hiked through forests, climbed mountains, kayaked down rivers, and gazed at starry night skies. These trips have ignited her passion for the great outdoors and its inhabitants, inspiring her to pursue a career in wildlife management.

    • Ali Mueller is a Range and Wildlife major with a minor in Animal Science. She grew up in Sugar Land, TX and is currently attending Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Ali is excited for the opportunity to do research with the Leading Program in fields she is interested in. She has always had a passion for animals, wildlife, and genetics, and she cannot wait to learn more.

    • Alexxis Garcia is from Kingsville, Texas, and is a research student pursuing her master’s in Animal Science at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. She is currently interning with Halfmann Land and Livestock in Miles, Texas, where she is gaining hands-on experience working with cattle. Outside of her academic and professional responsibilities, she enjoys spending time at her mom’s house talking and catching up, or relaxing in bed with her dog, Indie.

    • Colton Allen grew up in Katy, Texas, graduating from Seven Lakes High School in 2019. Colton then went to Schreiner University to continue his baseball career and then transferred to Texas A&M University-Kingsville to finish his baseball career. Colton then graduated with a bachelors degree in Agribusiness and is now pursuing a Masters Degree in Agricultural Science.

    • Denay Justine Hernandez is Miss Southwest Texas USA 2025 and a junior at Texas A&M University Kingsville, studying pre-veterinary medicine. Passionate about wildlife conservation, she researches ocelot reproduction and advocates for animal welfare and agricultural education. Denay aspires to become an exotic specialist veterinarian with a focus on surgery. Guided by her motto, “be that light that leads,” she dedicates her platform to inspiring positive change in her community.

    • Diana Ruiz grew up in Harlingen, Texas. She is currently attending Texas A&M University–Kingsville with a passion for veterinary medicine and genetics research. She’s actively involved on campus through Student Government, Greek life, and leadership roles, all while gaining hands-on experience in animal care and molecular biology. Diana’s long-term goal is to become a veterinarian and one day open her own clinic.

Now a classified junior majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in pre-veterinary studies at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, she aspires to become a large animal veterinarian, combining her academic dedication with her passion for animal health and care.

    • Faith Escamilla was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, and joined Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2019 to pursue her bachelor's degree in Animal Science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. During her undergraduate years, Escamilla developed an interest in research, which she continued during her master's program in 2024. Under the supervision of Dr. M.R Garcia, Escamilla, studies how blocking FGF2 influences VEC morphology in the angiogenic process.

Through LEADING, she was able to complete research at the National Animal Disease Center in Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

    • Isabella De Leon grew up in Eagle Pass, Texas, near the border town of Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Raised on a ranch, she spent her childhood caring for animals and riding horses with her grandfather. She developed a strong passion for barrel racing and animal care, which led her to pursue a major in General Animal Science to deepen her knowledge and continue her connection to ranch life.

Past experiences in cheerleading and STUNT shaped her teamwork and leadership skills, which now guide her academically and professionally. Jackie aspires to become a Chief Marketing Officer, leading innovative, inclusive campaigns that make a lasting impact.

    • Javier Robledo Jr. grew up in Robstown, Texas. He enjoys fishing, exploring, and catching cool critters he finds along the way. He loves every animal considered scaly and slimy. Javier aspires to be a Wildlife Conservationist, specifically working with reptiles and amphibians. He's worked with endangered amphibians in California and is currently working on Texas Horned Lizard populations throughout the United States.

A first- generation college student from Laredo, Texas, she is involved in sheep research, loves fishing, serves as Tennis Club secretary, and values land conservation. Jessica looks forward to attending graduate school and building a career focused on animals and land stewardship.

Passionate about cattle and veterinary medicine, Lidio strives to combine his agricultural roots with scientific research to improve animal health and management.

    • Maeli Caudillo grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is the youngest of three siblings. Maeli is the first in her family to attend college. Maeli is pursuing her education at Texas A&M- Kingsville, where she is majoring in animal science and minoring in range and wildlife management. One of Maeli’s goals is to become a wildlife biologist. Some of her hobbies include hiking, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends.

Megan has gained hands-on experience through her NRCS internship, wildlife research, and conservation projects. Passionate about sustainability, wildlife, and land management, she also enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and being outdoors in nature

    • Myrka Aly Gonzalez is a graduate student at Texas A&M University-Kingsville pursuing a masters in Cultural Studies. Born in Mission, Texas, she spent her first 17 years in Mexico, where she learned Spanish. She served as president of Sigma Delta Pi for two consecutive years, coordinating cultural events and symposiums to support her peers' professional development. She has a passion for research in the Spanish language instruction in agriculture programs to prepare professionals to work with multilingual workforces.

    • Natalie Hartwick is an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University-Kingsville pursuing a degree in Animal Science with a minor in Business Administration. She is currently a senior and will be graduating in May of 2026. She is originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, before moving to Kingsville, Texas, to pursue a higher education. Natalie enjoys doing research within the field of Animal Science to gain a deeper knowledge beyond coursework. Outside of school, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family.

    • Natalie Salinas grew up in Brownsville, Texas, where she earned an associate's degree from TSTC in Agriculture Technologies. During her time at TAMUK, she earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science while working for Texas Native Seeds. She then took that experience and turned it into her current project for her master's degree. Now under the Plant and Soil Science department, Natalie is evaluating the nutrient status of native grasses in correlation to the digestibility by in vitro true digestibility analysis.

    • Raziel enjoys things that most other people enjoy, such as good food, good people, and good scenery. A lot of his time is spent learning about plants and propagating them, plus spending time with family. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Wildlife Science, studying ecological restoration in South Texas. This new endeavor is pushing him to balance several aspects of life while remembering to enjoy them all.

Sandra contributes to her community through volunteer service at a veterinary clinic, where her commitment and skills led to an employment offer as a veterinary technician.

She has conducted research on wildlife diseases, native grasslands & pollinator species, as well as fire ecology. Her long-term goal is to contribute to conservation as a wildlife biologist, focusing on habitat management, biodiversity, and human–wildlife coexistence.

    • Taylor Williams was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She always knew that she loved animals, but did not decide on a career in animal science until her middle school years. Taylor’s senior year of high school is when she discovered Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and is now continuing her Master’s degree there as well. She hopes to apply to PhD programs that focus in Rumen microbiology and possibly use the degree to become a professor and/or a USDA Research Scientist.

    • Violeta Lira grew up in Mission, Texas, and is originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. She is pursuing an Animal Science (Pre-Vet) degree at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Her interest in animals began on her grandparents’ cattle ranch and later grew through grooming and caring for pets. Violeta hopes to one day open a small veterinary clinic in her hometown to serve her community.

    • Adiel J. Andino was raised in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Puerto Rico at Utuado and is currently pursuing a master’s in Crop Protection at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. As a farmer, he works with Dioscorea rotundata (yam) to improve tissue culture multiplication rates and implement sustainable practices in collaboration with Dr. Merari Feliciano to support food security.

    • Allian D. Bruno Pérez is an undergraduate student from Carolina, Puerto Rico, studying Animal Science at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. She is passionate about animal welfare and has participated in research on heat stress in heifers and the slick hair gene in Senepol calves. Interested in research involving large animals, she is eager and ready to keep learning as she pursues her goal of becoming a veterinarian.

    • Carolina Novoa is a graduate student born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She is currently studying Food Science and Technology, with a thesis focused on chocolate, plant-based beverages, and probiotics. With a background in Animal Science, she is passionate about animals, having worked in animal sanctuaries and led non-profit organizations. She enjoys coffee and spending quality time with her family.
    • Alejandro J. Rodriguez Cintron

    • Alejandro J. Rodríguez Cintrón was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He became interested in environmental science after volunteering at the urban garden and butterfly nursery in his high school. In 2022 he graduated from Agronomy at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus (UPRM). Where he is currently studying soil sciences as a graduate student and future aspiring researcher in agro-environmental sciences.

    • Andrea I. Munoz Ramirez, born in September 1999 in Puerto Rico, has always been curious about nature. This passion led her to the University of Puerto Rico, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Currently in her final semester, Andrea seeks opportunities with the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). Committed to enhancing agriculture and education in Puerto Rico, she aims to improve local farming conditions and promote sustainability within her community.
    • Daniel José Félix Echevarría
      University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
    • Daniel José Félix Echevarría was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, in 2000. From a young age, he exhibited a keen interest in insects, soils, and plants. He completed his education at the now-closed Academia San Antonio in Guayama and holds a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy. Currently, Daniel serves as an instructor in plant physiology laboratories and frequently visits agricultural experimental stations to provide technical assistance in research endeavors.
    • Daniela Rivera-Cintrón
      University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
    • Daniela Rivera-Cintrón was raised in South Florida but spent summers in Puerto Rico with family. Her time in Puerto Rico helped her gain a deeper appreciation for agriculture and inspired her to pursue studies in agricultural economics. Under the mentorship of Dr. Alicia Barriga-Burgos, she is researching how farmers' social networks, trust, and reciprocal behavior influence their perceptions and adoption of conservation practices. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring, and volunteering at community gardens.

    • Eliabeth Marrero Román was raised in Dorado, Puerto Rico, where her passion for animals was inspired by her father from a young age. Upon graduating from high school, she pursued a career in Animal Science, driven by her dream of becoming a veterinarian with a focus on animal rescue. In addition to her dedication to animal care, Eliabeth is passionate about music and theater and is currently an active member of the UPRM Musical Theater group.
    • Elvin Abdiel Lassalle Loperena
      University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
    • Elvin Abdiel Lassalle Loperena, from San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, is a graduate student in Tropical Agriculture PhD New Program at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. He holds a Master degree in Crop Protection and a Bachelor's in Agronomy with a Minor in Plant Biosecurity. He is a licensed agronomist in Puerto Rico. Elvin has gained professional experience as a UPRM Agricultural Experiment Station Plant Pathology Lab Scientific Research Technician and as a Crop Production and Plant Pathology Lab Instructor. His thesis research is focused on identification of predators and parasitoids; and biological control of the new pest reported, the cotton jassid Amrasca biguttula, in Puerto Rico. He enjoys nature, reading and gardening.
    • Esmeralda Soto Vélez

    • Esmeralda Soto Vélez is a graduate student at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. She was born in Mayagüez and is currently completing a master's degree in Food Science and Technology. She is investigating the presence of E. coli in retail meat and raw milk samples in Puerto Rico with the purpose of studying antimicrobial resistance from farm to table with her mentor, Dra. Yadira Malavez. Esmeralda enjoys studying food microbiology to innovate and improve food quality.

    • Isabel Mejías grew up in Carolina, Puerto Rico and is currently studying Agro-environmental Science with a major in Horticulture.
    • Jeremy O. Ayala Colón
      University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
    • Jeremy Ayala is an undergraduate student studying agronomy at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. From an early age, he has been deeply interested in agriculture. While in college, he developed a particular passion for soil science and natural resource management. In the future, he hopes to pursue a master's degree in soil science and then apply his knowledge by working with an agency focused on conserving natural resources.
    • Jonathan González Flores
      University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
    • Jonathan González Flores was born in Caguas to a farming family. He graduated with a degree in Horticulture and became an agronomist. He is pursuing a master's degree in Horticulture at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez and owns an agricultural company, De mi tierra a mi pueblo corp. dedicated to the production of fruit trees, vegetables, and hydroponics. I also work with the USDA in Mayagüez as a biological sciences technician.
    • Kamille Padilla

    • Kamille Padilla was born in Mayagüez and grew up in Sabana Grande. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a scientist and astronaut. At eight years old, she received a toy microscope, which she used to examine leaves and insects, sparking her curiosity for science. During the pandemic, she connected with agriculture by gardening with her father. In her senior year, a class on Agroenvironmental Science solidified her passion for agriculture. She now studies crop protection with a focus on phytopathology and aims to pursue a Ph.D. to become a professor in agricultural sciences.

    • Keishla M. González Vélez grew up in Lares, Puerto Rico, where her connection to agriculture began. With a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness and an Agronomist license, she is now pursuing a master’s in Agricultural Economics at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. Through hands-on experience, research, and the NextGen Scholars Program, she has developed expertise in data analysis, strategic problem-solving, and collaboration. Driven to apply innovative solutions that support agriculture and the farmers who sustain it.
    • Lorén V. Caballero Pérez

    • Lorén Caballero grew up in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. Growing up she was always interested in animals and started to develop an interest in agriculture. Her grandparents and uncles were part of her inspiration to start her own business of laying hens in her house. After learning what animal production is and the importance of agriculture, she decided to study Animal Science at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez.

    • I’m a student at the Horticulture undergraduate program, with a minor on Marketing at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez campus. Sub-Secretary of the Agriculture Sciences Council and delegate of the General Council of Students in UPRM. I love being part of many programs like Leading Hispanics since they prepare me educationally and professionally. For me it is very important, education and knowledge at the university as a professional level. I have three certifications: Business plan for Agro-enterprise, Marketing Plan for Agricultural Products and Agro-enterprise: Technical and Financial Resources. Some hobbies they are going to the beach, gym, sharing with friends and especially family.

    • Michelle M. Tacoronte González, from Lares, Puerto Rico, is in her second year studying Agricultural and Environmental Systems. She gained practical experience in the agricultural sector through an Agroenergy internship and received a Leadership Award in high school. Currently, she serves as Vice President of FFA Alumni, organizing activities for members, and has participated in Regional Boards. Additionally, she is involved in the Agriculture 4.0 program, focusing on programming and mechatronics applied to agriculture.
    • Milán Weiss Almodóvar

    • Milán Weiss is a third-year undergraduate student from Guánica, Puerto Rico, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Pre-Veterinary Sciences. Under the mentorship of Dr. Melvin Pagán, he is currently researching favorable genetic traits in tropically adapted bovines. Milán aims to become a veterinarian with a strong foundation in agriculture, dedicated to advancing Puerto Rico’s agricultural industry.

    • Born in Puerto Rico, Roberto García's family comes from Morovis, which sparked his interest in veterinary medicine. Roberto, who is currently enrolled in his third year of Animal Science and Pre-Vet certification at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez (UPRM), has obtained practical experience through research participation and veterinarian shadowing. His dream is to become a veterinarian and contribute to the safety of animals and Puerto Rican society.

    • Sofía Ortega Colón is a third-year undergraduate student who was born and raised in Coamo, Puerto Rico. Majoring Animal Science with a focus on Pre-Veterinary studies, is working on how dairy cattle manage heat stress by comparing the effects of daylight versus shaded hours. Sofía aims to become a Farm Animal Veterinarian with a strong foundation in production.

    • Yanira Miranda-Cortés is a graduate student in the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez campus, under the doctoral program of Tropical Agriculture. Obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Sciences with a specialty in Crop Protection. During the 2019-2024 period, she performed as Scientific research technician. Currently, her research project is focused on the evaluation of the resistance of Pseudocercospora fijiensis isolates (Black Sigatoka causal-agent) to Quinone outside Inhibitor (QoI) fungicides in Puerto Rico.

    • Adigail Aizpuru was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and is now at New Mexico State University studying Animal Science. Adigail is interested in attending veterinary school after completing her bachelors degree. Adigail started assisting with research projects in her freshman year when she was informed about the Leading USDA program that she was later accepted into. Adigail was able to conduct research of her own, present research and travel to conferences to make connections.

    • Carleen Silva grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University in 2018. Carleen then worked for the U.S Forest Service and U.S. Geological Survey studying wildlife in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is currently a doctoral candidate in both the Biology department and Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Ecology department at New Mexico State University. Her work with Drs. Kathryn Hanley and Matt Gompper focuses on the disease ecology of Sin Nombre Virus in deer mice.

    • Delila Dominguez was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. She joined the LEADING Hispanics program as an undergraduate student at Texas State University and is now excited to participate again as a graduate student at New Mexico State University. Her research interest is in cattle nutrition and rumen microbiology, and she looks forward to continuing her work at NMSU. In her free time, Delila enjoys having movie marathons and reading books.

    • Ema Alvarez grew up in Sunland Park, New Mexico right on the border of El Paso, Texas. A fun fact about her is her favorite animal is rabbits she owns 2 bucks Paco and Lalo. She has always dreamed of working with animals since she was young and would like to purse a career as an Animal Scientist and get her Masters and Doctorate degree.

    • Emma Varela grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she developed a love and passion for the outdoors whenever she would leave the city to go camping. This love for the outdoors grew over time and eventually led her to pursue a bachelor's in Fish and Wildlife Conservation Ecology at New Mexico State University. Since her first semester of her freshman year, Emma has been involved in numerous graduate student research projects and has gained experience in both the field setting and lab setting. She is now conducting her undergraduate research project on factors affecting nestling western bluebird growth that will eventually be written up and put up for publication.
    • Juliemar Cuevas-Hernandez

    • Juliemar Cuevas-Hernandez is originally from Hatillo, Puerto Rico but grew up in Orlando, Florida. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biology and double minored in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and Environmental Science from the University of Florida. During her undergraduate studies, she interned and worked various jobs related to conservation such as wetland restoration, oyster reef research, museum curation for invertebrate zoology collections, laboratory work processing butterfly DNA, marine laboratory work with seabirds, etc. After earning her bachelor's, she worked as a wildlife technician monitoring shorebird and seabird breeding for imperiled species along the Florida coast. Juliemar is currently a master's student at New Mexico State University, studying the impacts of desertification on wintering sparrows in the Chihuahuan Desert.
    • Naomi Lucero

    • Naomi Lucero, originally from El Paso, TX, is a first-year doctoral student studying ruminant nutrition at New Mexico State University. She completed a BS with a double major in Animal Science and Poultry Science at Texas A&M University and a MS in ruminant nutrition from NMSU. Her research will focus on the effects of probiotics on methane emissions and the efficacy of by-product supplementation programs in sheep and cattle.
    • Natalie Grimm

    • Natalie Grimm is an undergraduate student at New Mexico State University studying Animal Science. She grew up in Peralta, New Mexico and has one younger sister. Natalie loves being outdoors, riding horses, roping, going on hikes, and spending time with her family. Her interest in ruminant nutrition and the effects nutrition has on reproduction were sparked after working in Taylor Andrews' lab last semester.

Driven by a deep commitment to animal health and welfare, they are dedicated to building their expertise in animal science as a foundation for a future career as a veterinarian. Shaylee Shaylee Strong was born in San Diego, California, but grew up in Las Vegas Nevada. She has always been involved with animals ever since she was in kindergarten. Her passion sparked when she rode horses and has wanted to work with animals ever since. She obtained her bachelor's in animal science, and is now pursuing her master's at New Mexico State University.

    • Samantha Aguilar grew up in Gatesville, Texas where she was introduced to the wildlife field through the 4-H Plant ID team. She got her bachelor's degree in Wildlife, Sustainability, and Ecosystem Sciences from Tarleton State University. During undergrad she worked as a technician on multiple projects and completed research on House sparrow incubation. Samantha is now a master's student at New Mexico State University studying post-fledging ecology.
    • Doris (Alexa) Arnedo

    • Doris Alexa Arnedo was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Alexa earned her BS in Agriculture Biology from New Mexico State University in spring 2023. Alexa was an undergraduate researcher studying chile and uncommon vegetables with Dr. Stephanie Walker. Following her passion for agriculture and pathology, she is pursuing her MS in molecular biology under Dr. Jennifer Randall researching abiotic and biotic stresses in pecan.

    • Aria Christianson grew up in Cottonwood, Arizona. She is majoring in Animal Science, and after graduating, she plans to pursue her Master's Degree focusing on animal reproduction. Her career goal is to eventually become an embryologist. Aria is an undergraduate researcher studying how lipid metabolites affect follicular development in beef heifers. Aria strives to be a good student, but outside of class she is very active outdoors and loves spending time with friends and visiting family.

    • Alyssa Granados was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business at New Mexico State University and plans to continue her education in law school after earning her degree. Her research focuses on the number and background of students entering the College of Agriculture with little to no prior experience in the field. Although Alyssa didn’t grow up in a farming or ranching environment, her time at NMSU sparked a deep passion for agriculture. Being part of the LEADING Program has been an incredible experience, providing her with the confidence and motivation to pursue higher education. She looks forward to continuing her journey, striving to achieve her ultimate goals.

    • Mariah Humphrey grew up in Silver City, New Mexico, where she developed a passion for health, science, and animals. She graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science with minors in Chemistry and Horse Management in spring of 2023, while competing as a student athlete on the track and field team and working as a veterinary assistant. She is continuing her education to achieve a M.S. in Animal Science(Ruminant Nutrition).

    • Zenaida Mendoza Levario was born in Roswell, New Mexico and was raised in Hagerman, New Mexico. Zenaida is earning her BS in Agricultural Education and Extension with an emphasis on Agricultural Communications and a minor in Journalism and Media Studies. She hopes to continue her studies and get her masters in Agricultural Education and Extension or Agricultural Communications and become a public affairs officer or public relations officer within a USDA department. Throughout her undergraduate career, she has been doing undergraduate research focusing on agricultural programs and their effects of veteran mental health. She hopes to continue this research in her master's program and find effective ways to implement these programs within her community.

    • Alicia Marmolejo is from Las Cruces, NM and earned her undergraduate degree in Range Science in 2022 and completed her master’s degree in molecular biology in 2024 from New Mexico State University, where she studied under Dr. Sara Fuentes-Soriano. During her master’s program, she focused on the invasion genomics of an invasive plant species introduced to Israel. She is continuing the research she began during her master’s studies and pursuing a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology.

    • Coral Matos-Sepulveda was born in Puerto Rico. She received her bachelor's degree at College of the Atlantic in 2020. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in the Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology department at New Mexico State University. Her work focuses on waterfowl use of artificial ponds in arid environments.
    • Treasure Morgan
      New Mexico State University
    • Treasure Morgan is from the Navajo Nation or Pinehaven, New Mexico. She grew up ranching cattle, which led her to attend Colorado State University to major in animal science. She later minored in soil science, which led her to become interested in integrated rangeland management. After earning her B.S. degree, she decided to pursue a master's degree in range science to gain more plant science knowledge. Her research is focused on the impacts of Agrivoltaics on range health. She has experience working in university extension programs and in a USDA-ARS Range department, which is why she is excited to work directly with producers in the future. After earning her M.S. degree, she plans to enter the USDA as a range management specialist to help conserve rangelands for the future.

    • Jorge Preciado was born in Los Angeles, CA, and grew up in Jalisco, Mexico. He studied for his bachelor's in architecture and a master's in water and energy engineering at “Universidad de Guadalajara.” He is a Doctoral student at New Mexico State University in the Water Science and Management program. His research focused on water recharge estimates from pecan fields.

    • Laura Munoz grew up in El Paso, Texas. She attended El Paso Community College, graduating with an Associate of Science in Biological Sciences in 2019. Laura then continued at New Mexico State University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology in 2023. She is now pursuing her Master of Science in Food Science and Technology, where she plans to focus on food safety.

    • Kiana Rivera grew up in Ojo Caliente, NM on a small ranch helping raise several livestock animals and managing a small garden. Growing up around livestock animals drove her strong passion for agriculture and love of animals. She is majoring in Animal Science, minoring in Chemistry and Horse Management. She currently works in a Ruminant Nutrition Lab, assisting many graduate and undergraduate students with their research. She is currently completing a study that is looking at ruminal degradation of red chile byproducts In-Vitro and hopes to pursue a Master of Science in Animal Science.

    • My name is Cassie Smithyman, I was born and raised in Prosser, Washington. I moved to New Mexico to complete my Bachelor's degree in Animal Science at New Mexico State University. I have worked under Dr. Clint Loest in the ruminant nutrition laboratory at NMSU since I was a freshman in 2022. I am expected to graduate in May of 2025.

    • Kenzie Smithyman was raised in the small town of Prosser, WA. Kenzie earned her B.S. in Animal Science from Washington State University in 2020 and her M.S in Animal Science specifically feedlot nutrition in 2020. Following her passion for receiving feedlot health and nutrition, she is pursuing her Ph.D. under Dr. Clint Löest and is expected to graduate Spring 2025.

    • Shaylee Strong was born in San Diego, California, but grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. She then moved to El Paso, Texas, and completed her bachelor's at NMSU. Now, she is currently working on a M.S. In Animal Science, with a concentration in ruminant nutrition. Shaylee's hobbies include watching movies, making various art, hiking, and volleyball. She also has a blue heeler named Ellie and bearded dragon named Shookie, and dreams to become a Veterinarian.

    • Alley is a graduate student studying Integrated Agriculture Sciences at Texas State University. She has been a LEADING scholar since Fall 2023. Her undergraduate research focused on exploring eggshell waste as a sustainable alternative calcium source for cattle. Last semester she conducted her thesis trial that explored protein supplementation strategies for cattle consuming cool- and warm-season forages to improve efficiency. When she is not hitting the books, she enjoys touching grass, spending time with her dogs, and working out.
