The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering has been offering engineering degree programs for 90 years since 1936 and has graduated thousands of students who have or had very successful professional careers. It is not just a college of engineering; it is a tradition of excellence. Currently, the college enrolls nearly 25% of the campus enrollment.

The college offers a broad range of degree programs, which provide a solid foundation for entry into the engineering, technology management, and computer science professions. Our graduates are in high demand and they work in all major sectors such as energy, computer, electronics, communications, robotics, aerospace, petrochemical, environmental, manufacturing, construction, management, and information technology.

We offer ten undergraduate and eleven master’s and two doctoral degree programs. Our undergraduate programs in architectural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering are accredited by Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org; the computer science is accredited by Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org; and the industrial technology management program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering, ATMAE, https://www.atmae.org. Our newest degree offerings in computer engineering and has just begun and cannot be accredited till we graduate some students.

The master’s degree programs are in architectural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management, mechanical engineering, robotics and autonomous systems, and space and aeronautical engineering. Students can also pursue the nationally ranked Ph.D. degree program in Environmental Engineering or the Ph.D. program in Engineering with specialty in one of the following: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering.

We have a team of experienced and well-qualified faculty in the college. About 91% of our faculty have earned Ph.D. degrees. Engineering faculty is committed to providing the highest quality educational experience to our students.

Our faculty is pursuing an aggressive research agenda with an annual research expenditure of over $5M. Faculty research projects are funded by major federal and state agencies as well as by industry and private foundations.

The College maintains a strong bond with all stakeholders in the region, especially the local and regional industry, local/state/federal agencies, educational institutes of south Texas, as well as the alumni base who play an active role towards supporting the mission of the college.
