HDFS Minor
Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) offers an interdisciplinary focus on understanding development across the lifespan (from prenatal development to death) in the context of family, society/community, and culture. The HDFS program is designed to work with students from Freshmen to Seniors, so all course levels are open to all without prerequisites.
Starting spring 2026, HDFS courses are offered 100% online and, in some cases, in 8-week semesters to better align with students' degree requirements. HDFS courses offer students opportunities to get involved in community service and to pursue meaningful research, often leading to conference presentations (guided by Dr. Oblad). The HDFS minor adds valuable experiences directly onto a student's resume and serves as a great complement to any major.
