  Mission Statement

The College of Graduate Studies’ mission is to effectively administer an academic structure of quality graduate programs which provides the means for students to foster creativity, critical thinking, research, and analysis at the masters and doctoral levels in agriculture and human sciences, arts and sciences, business administration, education, and engineering.  To this end, the College shall provide an intellectually challenging education with high academic standards so as to meet the occupational, intellectual, and cultural needs of its students.

  Vision

In 2010, the doctoral programs at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will number ten and will possibly include some aspects of the following programs: pharmacy, systems engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biology, criminology, human nutrition, biochemistry, horticulture, kinesiology, business administration, wildlife veterinary medicine, animal science, and a terminal degree in art.  Graduate assistants will be paid at a rate competitive with comparable size universities, and graduate assistantships will be available to support expanded graduate programs.  Our student population will be diverse, greater in number, come from institutions around the globe, and have opportunity for intellectual growth and leadership.  Our graduate faculty will be recognized for their concern for students and for their scholarly work. Continuing efforts will be made to enhance to a position of superior quality, those programs where improvements may be needed.  The quality and diversity of our graduate programs will distinguish TAMUK from surrounding universities and will rate it as one of the top five public institutions in the state of Texas.

The state of Texas will benefit greatly from the efforts made at the graduate level by Texas A&M University-Kingsville.   An improved economy and quality of life will result due to these efforts.
