Maura Krestar, Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Maura Krestar

Dr. Krestar joined the CSDO faculty in the Fall of 2014. She received a Ph.D. in Adult Development and Aging in 2014 and a M.A. in Experimental Psychology in 2011 from Cleveland State University. Dr. Krestar attended Mercyhurst College (now Mercyhurst University) in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she received an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2006. Dr. Krestar teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in CSDO and Psychology, and focuses much of her time on research. Dr. Krestar's research experiences and interest areas include cognitive processes involved in speech perception. More specifically, her research involves the auditory perception of emotional speech (happy, sad, angry, surprised, etc.) during adulthood, particularly similarities and differences between younger and older adults.
