KINGSVILLE (September 19, 2025) — Dr. Joachim Reinhuber, professor of piano in the School of Music at TexasA&M University-Kingsville, has been selected for the Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame by Steinway and Sons, the world’s most prestigious piano manufacturer.

 

“I was obviously very surprised when I heard that I was nominated and very happy to hear the nomination was accepted,” Reinhuber said. “I am invited to a celebration event at the New York factory Oct. 20-21. This is my third visit to the factory as I visited twice before to select instruments for our campus.”

 

The Steinway and Sons Teacher Hall of Fame is a prestigious designation recognizing the work of North America’s most committed and passionate piano educators. Every two years, teachers are selected from the United States and Canada to be inducted into the Steinway Teachers Hall of Fame. The celebration includes special events hosted at the historic Steinway factory in Astoria, Queens. The Hall of Fame recognizes the talented educators who foster passion, creativity, and discipline in the next generation of piano artists.

 

In addition, Reinhuber will be performing some of his “Bucket List” pieces including Bach, Schubert and Beethoven in an upcoming recital. The recital will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Performance Hall in the Music Education Complex.

 

“I just wanted to do the recital. It is a very ambitious bucket list program,” Reinhuber said.

 

His program includes

 

  • Prelude and Fugue B-flat major BWV 866; Prelude and Fugue B-flat minor BWV 867; Prelude and Fugue C major BWV 846; and Prelude and Fugue C Minor BWV 847 by Johan Sebastian Bach (1685-1750);
  • Sonata B-flat major D 960 by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and
  • Sonata C minor op 111 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)

About Dr. Joachim Reinhuber

Reinhuber serves as professor of piano at Texas A&M-Kingsville. In addition to his work at the university, he is in high demand as a solo and collaborative performer, clinician and adjudicator in the United States and his native Germany.

 

He studied with his grandfather, Franz Calvelli-Adorno, Robert Levin at University of Music, Freiburg, John Perry, Rice University, and Nancy Garrett, University of Texas at Austin.

 

Recent performances include Brahms first piano concerto with the Laredo Philharmonic; the Schumann concerto and Beethoven’s First with the Aschaffenburg Chamber Orchestra; Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Texas A&M-Kingsville Symphony; Bach d minor and Stravinsky concerto for piano and winds in one concert with the Kingsville Symphony.

 

In 2012, 2014 and 2025, he was the pianist for the Texas Music Educators Association’s All-State Tenor/Bass Choir.
