School of Music to host Flute Day with competition, classes

KINGSVILLE (April 16, 2024) — The School of Music at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host Flute Day, Saturday, April 20. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. with the event running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

“The event is open to flutists from beginner to advanced, so we welcome middle school students, high school students, college students and adult amateurs,” said Dr. Elizabeth Janzen, professor of flute. “Our events are all tailored to level so that everyone has something to enjoy.”

 

The guest artist is Dr. James Hall, from the University of Northern Colorado.

 

Activities include two master classes, one ensemble competition, three concerts, three flute choirs, multiple clinics on a variety of topics, duet opportunities with A&M-Kingsville flutists, an instrument petting zoo showcasing our family of flutes, games and vendors including Burkart Flutes from Boston and Texas Flute Guild from Houston.

 

If you haven’t registered, the registration fee will be $15 at the door.
