Posted on

Student researchers from Texas A&M University-Kingsville earned ten total awards at the Fourteenth Annual Texas A&M University System Pathways Student Research Symposium, held at Tarleton State University Nov. 2-3.

The event gives undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students enrolled in A&M System institutions the opportunity to present findings from their research projects, conducted with faculty mentors.

Presentations can be delivered in a poster or an oral format, with first, second and third place awards given over nine different fields of study: agriculture; business and computer information systems; education; engineering and computer science; environmental science; humanities or social science; life science; mathematics; and physical science.

There was a tenth award category, for doctoral students, conducted as a “speed round” presentation, in which each student was given five minutes and the use of one PowerPoint slide. Out of the 35 who participated in the first round, 10 students were chosen to continue to the second round—four of those 10 were from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

This year, almost 300 students from institutions throughout the A&M System took part in the symposium.
