Personnel Profile

Cheryl Cain, Associate Vice President, Marketing and Communications

Cheryl Cain

Who I Am

I spent most of my childhood on the East Coast and in Germany with stints in Idaho and Colorado. As a result, I have always enjoyed traveling, exploring new places and meeting people. I hold a B.S. in Television-Radio with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York and an M.B.A. with a focus in Marketing from the University of North Texas.

What I Do at Texas A&M-Kingsville

I have the privilege of leading the marketing and communications team, a talented and committed group of people. Together, we produce a university magazine; handle media relations, advertising and marketing activities; assist with crisis/emergency communications, oversee web management; produce recruiting materials, etc. I also work closely with the president and his staff on communication-related projects. It’s a robust role with daily surprises, and it’s always interesting and rewarding work.

My Texas A&M-Kingsville Story

I joined the campus as a communications specialist and expected to stay just a few years. The campus environment and surrounding community has proven hard to leave, and I am happy to continue my career in Javelina Nation. I love the friendliness of our campus, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch the campus grow over time yet retain that friendly atmosphere.
