Message from the Department Chair

"Welcome to the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University–Kingsville! We are proud to be part of the College of Education and Human Performance and to serve as one of the largest departments on campus. In HKN, students find pathways that connect their interests to meaningful futures in exercise science, rehabilitation and pre-health, coaching, sport leadership and management, physical education, and performance psychology. With six undergraduate programs and four master’s programs, our department prepares students to work in fitness and wellness, pursue allied health professions, teach and coach, lead in sport and recreation, and study the connection between the body, mind, and human performance. Our faculty and staff are committed to helping students choose the pathway that fits their goals and develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to move forward. At TAMUK, Health and Kinesiology students are more than a number; they are part of a supportive, challenging, and purpose-driven academic community. Whether you are preparing to serve, lead, teach, coach, research, or improve quality of life through movement, health, sport, and performance, there is a place for you here. Welcome to HKN — Health and Kinesiology Nation. We are excited to have you here and look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish." Dr. Daniel J. Burt
