University COVID Protocols

Following the expiration of the National Emergency declaration associated with the COVID-19 pandemic last year, Texas A&M University-Kingsville would like to remind the campus community of our current COVID-19 protocols. Through our collective individual responsibility, we will continue to play a role in mitigating the spread of the virus—as with other infectious diseases, such as influenza.

  • Individuals who feel sick should stay home and seek medical care if needed.
  • COVID-19 testing is available for students by appointment through the Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) mobile clinic on the TAMUK campus 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. COVID-19 vaccines, which continue to effectively prevent hospitalizations and death, are also available through CACOST. Students can schedule their appointment by calling the CACOST office at 361-239-0600. Once appointment is made, students will receive a welcome email to setup their patient portal.
  • Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is encouraged to employ best practices related to isolation, hygiene and masking as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/index.html.
  • Employees are not required to report COVID-19 positive status to their supervisor or Employee Services. Employees missing more than three days of work due to injury or illness are required to provide supporting medical documentation as per Employee Services policy. Employees with positions that lend themselves to remote work and, with the approval of their division head, may work remotely after testing positive.
  • Students who test positive may contact the Dean of Students (Kirsten.Compary@tamuk.edu) with documentation to facilitate a notice of absence to be shared with their faculty/instructors. Students will then need to connect with their instructors to make arrangements regarding make-up work.
