Anthropology

Anthropology is the study of human behavior and cultures around the globe. Anthropology asks, “What makes human beings so distinct? How have we changed over time? What factors (such as biology, culture, or environment) influence the ways we behave? How can we better understand differences between us?” To get at these questions, anthropologists study almost everything, from globalization to healing practices to business transactions.

Philosophy

Philosophy is the rigorous examination of life's most fundamental questions: about knowledge, existence, morality, reason, and the nature of reality. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the Philosophy minor challenges students to think critically and vigorously, analyze complex arguments, and express their ideas clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in speech. These skills complement virtually any field of study and are particularly valuable for students considering careers in law, medicine, government, business, or public policy, as well as those planning to pursue graduate or professional study. Whatever your major, the Philosophy minor sharpens the habits of mind that will serve you throughout your academic and professional life.
