What is Transfer Thursdays?
Transfer students with more than 12 transferrable college credits who have been admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville need to meet with an academic advisor prior to registering for classes. Meeting with an academic advisor ensures transfer students receive proper advising on which courses to take in the upcoming semester and helps students determine how the courses they have already taken transfer into their degree plan at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The sessions are set for Thursdays so that transfer students have plenty of opportunities to come on campus, learn what credits will transfer, get advised and registered, and take care of financial aid and housing if necessary. Students also can tour the campus, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about life as a transfer student here at TAMUK during their Transfer Thursday event.
**New Transfer Thursday Session: May 24**
Please note that we have added a new Transfer Thursday session on May 24 to better accommodate our incoming transfer students. The May 24 session is available for registration online in Blue and Gold.
**MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS BEFORE ATTENDING TRANSFER THURSDAYS**
Students must meet the following requirements before they can attend a Transfer Thursdays session:
- Submit valid Baterial Meningitis Vaccincation Record to the TAMUK Student Health and Wellness office: Students MUST submit their record directly to the TAMUK Student Health and Wellness office PRIOR to their Transfer Thursdays session date. Students who show up at orientation without their bacterial meningitis vaccination record being verified and noted in their account by the TAMUK Student Health and Wellness office will not be allowed to participate in any orientation activities. A hold will be placed on student accounts preventing students from registering for classes until the TAMUK Student Health and Wellness office has received and processed their vaccination record. To ensure the TAMUK Student Health and Wellness office has enough time to process your vaccination record and remove your hold prior to your orientation session, please submit it to their office at least 10-15 days prior to your session date. The hold will not be removed for students who bring their record with them to orientation--it must be submitted and verified prior to their session date.
- Read and Sign your Financial Responsibility Agreement in Blue and Gold: All students are required to read and agree to the conditions of a new Financial Responsibility Agreement prior to attending Transfer Thursdays. If the agreement has not already been signed, the agreement should automatically appear in Blue and Gold when students log into their accounts. Students will not be able to access any other area of Blue and Gold without first signing the agreement. Once the agreement has been signed, it will no longer appear in Blue and Gold. Students who do not sign the agreement will have a hold on their account preventing them from registering for classes. To ensure the hold is removed prior to Transfer Thursdays, students are encouraged to sign the agreement at least 5 days prior to their session date. Signing the agreement the day a student plans to attend Transfer Thursdays does not ensure the hold will be removed and may result in a student not being able to register for classes.
