Transfer Thursdays Checklist

Transfer Thursdays are fun and informational events, and we want it to be efficient, effortless and beneficial for transfer students so they can make the most of their on-campus experience. In an effort to help students prepare for orientation, we have created a pre-orientation student checklist.

Sign Your Financial Responsibility Agreement Online

Students are required to sign a Financial Responsibility Agreement, which will automatically appear when a student logs on to their Blue and Gold account. Students will not be able to register for courses without first agreeing to the conditions of this agreement. Once signed, the agreement will no longer appear in the student’s account.

Submit On-Campus Housing Application

Although University Housing and Residence Life representatives will be available during each Transfer Thursdays session to answer questions and accept on-campus housing applications, students are encouraged to apply and submit their application and $150 security deposit prior to attending Transfer Thursdays because all Transfer Thursdays sessions take place after the May 1st housing application deadline. Residence halls fill up quickly, so applying by the May 1st deadline ensures a student's priority residence hall and/or roommate request will be considered and that students will receive their housing assignment by the end of June.

For additional on-campus housing information or to apply, please visit the University Housing and Residence Life website.

Cancel Aid at Previous Institution/Submit FAFSA Applicationn

Transfer students must cancel any aid they were receiving at any previous institution(s) before aid can be awarded from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Once aid has been canceled from previous institutions, transfer students should submit the FAFSA application to our Office of Student Financial Aid using our school code (003639).

The Office of Student Financial Aid sets priority deadlines each semester for students to apply for aid, which is March 15th for the 2015-2016 academic year for fall. Financial aid is available and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, so students who complete and submit the FAFSA online (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application on or before the March 15th deadline are guaranteed to be considered first for aid and awards. Also, applying and submitting your FAFSA application before your Transfer Thursdays session will allow you to take care of any additional or last minute financial aid issues while you are on campus for orientation.

To learn more about how to apply for FAFSA and for other important information regarding financial aid, please visit the Office of Student Financial Aid website.

Check Blue and Gold Student Account Online Frequently

All student account information can be accessed online through the Blue and Gold Connection. Through Blue and Gold, students are able to see whether or not the Office of Admission has all necessary documents on file (transcripts, test scores, etc); if any additional information or documents are required to finalize financial aid applications; whether they have been offered or awarded any aid and/or scholarships; if there are any necessary aid, loan or scholarship agreement forms that need to be accepted and signed online; and more. Students are encouraged to check their account information frequently leading up to their Hoggie Days session to ensure all of their applications and files are complete prior to attending Transfer Thursdays. All students need to log in to Blue and Gold is their student ID (K-Number) and pin (birth date in six digit format MMDDYY).

Review Intended Major and Degree Plan

All students will be advised during their Transfer Thursdays session and have the opportunity to register for their first semester of classes. To ensure a successful and efficient advising session, students are encouraged to review the undergraduate catalog and the requirements for their intended major. Although academic advisors will help students make the best decisions for their degree plan, students should have a general idea of degree requirements and what courses they would like to take.
