The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents has named an accounting professor from A&M in College Station as the new interim president at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Friday, Regents appointed Dr. Robert Strawser to be the temporary replacement for outgoing TAMUK President Dr. Rumaldo Juarez, who announced his retirement in February. Dr.
Strawser has been with the A&M University System for 35 years, serving as an accounting professor, associate and interim dean of the Mays Business School at Texas A&M and alsoserving as two-time speaker of the university's faculty senate.
Dr. Strawser, 68, will take over for Juarez on July 1. After six years as TAMUK President, Dr. Juarez will retire June 30 and will serve as the university's vice president for research and graduate studies.
A search for a new, permanent president is expected to continue through summer.
