Last theatre production of the semester brings ‘Big Love’ to stage

The Texas A&M University - Kingsville (TAMUK) Little Theatre hopes for some big lovin’ with the telling of playwright Charles Mee’s “Big Love” on center stage. Performances are Tuesday, April 22 through Thursday April 24 at 7:30 p.m
Mee based “Big Love” on the old Greek play, “The Suppliants” by Aeschylus with a modern-day twist.
Directed by assistant professor of communications and theatre arts, Jean Daniels, “Big Love” tells the story of 50 brides who run from forced marriages and seek a safe haven on Italy’s coastline - a contemporary take on the battle between the sexes.
Senior theatre arts and journalism major Lorraine Rodriguez plays Lydia, senior theatre arts and communications major Elle Escobedo as Olympia, junior theatre arts major Christina Garcia as Thyona, senior theatre arts and history major Jannah Morales plays Bella and freshman psychology major Kristine Trejo plays Eleanor.
Sophomore theatre arts and music major Joey Olivarez plays Piero, junior marketing major Buddy Trevino as Leo, freshman theatre arts major Bobby Villarreal plays Giuliano, junior theatre arts major James Taylor Maupin as Constantine, sophomore theatre arts major Daniel Hernandez as Oed and junior theatre arts and radio-tv major Rick Saenz as Nikos make up the men of the play.
Admission is $3 and is for mature audiences.
