Advisement and Registration

New Students

If you are a new student at TAMUK, your acceptance letter will provide you with advisement and registration instructions.

Unless exempt, new freshmen students must complete a Texas Success Initiative (TSI) placement exam and submit scores to TAMUK prior to advisement and registration.

New freshmen should attend a Hoggie Days orientation session where they will be advised and given the opportunity to register for classes using Web for Students.

Transfer Students

Transfer students who have met the requirements of the TSI should see an advisor in the department of their intended major. Transfer students who have not met TSI requirements should see an advisor in University College.

Transfer students should attend a Hoggie Days orientation session where they will be advised and given the opportunity to register for classes using Web for Students.

Continuing Students in University College

  1. See an advisor in University College for placement in appropriate developmental 
    classes.
  2. If you have selected a major, go to the department of your major for advising 
    pertaining to the remainder of your schedule.
  3. Undecided majors (LBAR) will be advised by University College advisors.
  4. Once all holds are cleared and advising is complete, you may register using Web 
    for Students.

All Other Students

  1. Advising is conducted in the department of your major.
  2. Once all holds are cleared and advising is complete, you may register using Web 
    for Students.
