GABRIEL IGLESIAS PERFORMS IN JONES AUDITORIUM
Incredibly entertaining!! If you ask anyone of the 500 people who
saw Gabriel Iglesias hit the stage September 14 you will probably hear
the same thing, "He was so funny!" Gabriel Iglesias was born in San Diego
July 15, 1976. The youngest of six children, he spent his first five
years living on the eastside of Chula Vista. By the age of eight, Gabriel
and his mother were on their own and making a fresh start in the city
of Long Beach. One night Gabriel’s mother took him to the local video
store where he rented a comedy starring Eddie Murphy. Two weeks after
he saw the tape he was motivated to audition for his 5th grade talent
show. A week later he was the hit of the show. That was over twenty years
ago. For information on other campus activities contact Student Activities
at x2760.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES PROMOTES NEW PROGRAM
Volunteering--Reach Out & Connect. The Student Activities
Office has embarked in connecting students with service activities. The
goal is twofold: 1. To provide service-learning projects so students become
active contributors to society. 2. To promote strong relationships between
students and their communities. If you are an advisor to a student organization
or program, please encourage your students/organization to participate
in this new effort. For more information contact Student Activities at
x2760.
CAREER SERVICES HOSTS BUSINESS ETIQUETTE DINNER
Career Services hosted the Business Etiquette Dinner on Tuesday,
September 17. As usual, the program sold out at 200 students. The dinner
requires business attire and lessons on dining in a business setting.
Not only is the art of mingling is discussed, but proper use of utensils,
how to pass items around the table, and even how to enter and exit a table
is discussed. Feedback from students was nothing but positive.
FALL CAREER FAIR SET FOR WEDNESDAY
The Fall Career Fair is Wednesday, October 9 from 1 - 4:00
p.m. in the SUB ballrooms. 55 companies have registered! Graduating students
should take advantage of this opportunity to talk with recruiters. Interestingly,
over 2/3 of the companies are hiring summer interns, so sophomores and
juniors in particular should attend.
