WANTED: CARING FACULTY AND STAFF TO MENTOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
The Javelina Mentor Program is designed to enhance student involvement and increase student success and retention. Students will be matched with a faculty/staff mentor who will assist the student in transition to the University. This will be accomplished by offering insights into campus opportunities, providing information about organizations and activities, assisting in identifying educational goals, enhancing awareness of campus services, and providing direction or referrals to assist students in their academic endeavors. The mentor relationship is designed to last for the first semester, but we hope the relationship will extend beyond that time.

Requirements are to attend a mentor reception/information session, then meet a minimum of 4 times during the course of the semester with the mentee. Suggested items to review will be provided for each of the four sessions. If you would like additional information about the Javelina Mentor Program, or if you are interested in serving, please contact Barry McKinney at x2760. The department will match all students by the conclusion of the first week of school so please respond as soon as possible.

"HELLO" PROJECT CONTINUES - CAMPUS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE
During the fall semester the Student Affairs staff are once again trying to "greet" faculty, staff, and students as we all cross campus. Rather than walking by individuals without a simple "hello" the staff are making a point to try and greet all we pass. You are invited to join the student affairs division in the "Hello" Project. As you walk across campus try and say hello to all those you pass.
