DEAN OF STUDENTS SEARCH NEARING COMPLETION
The search committee has scheduled two finalists for the Dean of Students position. Dr. Dianne Brown is currently the Interim Dean of Students at our institution and has served as Interim since September 2000. Dr. Sibbet is from Sweetwater, Texas and has served as Dean of Students at Texas State Technical College. The Dean of Students serves as an advocate for students and facilitates their progress as they embark on and transition into the higher education arena. The search committee strongly encourages you to participate in the interview process and meet these two candidates. Dr. Dianne Brown interview schedule open meeting with Faculty and Staff is July 23, 2001 from 3:00-3:45 pm at the SUB Room 219A, Dr. Lorraine Sibbet is July 24, 2001 and is at the same location. The Dean is often the student link between administration and faculty and vice versa. One day the dean is helping a student succeed and the next they may be sanctioning that same student for a conduct violation. The TAMUK Dean of Students also oversees several major department functions (Student Union & Activities, Sodexho Marriott, Barnes & Noble, Post Office, Fraternities & Sororities, Clubs and Organizations, Cheerleaders, Recreational Sports, Student Handbook, One-Card ID System, Student Rights and Advocacy, and Student Conduct) and is a member of the President's Executive Council. We will try to keep you informed as the search progresses.
