A student referendum approving the student service fee increase, health center fee increase, international education fee increase, and the new Student Senate proposed theatre arts fee ($3/sem) will be held February 12. NEW DEAN OF STUDENTS DAVID BRAVERMAN STARTS FEBRUARY 11

CAMPUS HOUSING PROVIDES HALL PROGRAMMING
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) held its first Spring meeting on Monday, January 28 and has many plans for fundraisers and community service projects for the semester. RHA is also making plans to attend the Texas Residence Hall Association conference, which will be held at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches later this semester.

The RA socials have been going very well in Bishop Hall this semester. Some of the socials RA's have put on have included bag decorating, tie-dye t-shirts, soap basket decorations, and valentine baskets. The socials this week include mini-bucket decorating, a pool tourney, and a valentine cake decorating.

Campus Housing will be hosting a Super Bowl Party in each of the five residence halls on Sunday, February 3. Sodexho has agreed to serve the evening meal that night in each hall. Housing will decorate the lobbies in a football theme, serve traditional football game snacks, and will give away door prizes at the event.

ONE-CARD UPDATE
The one-card (smart-card) is in the final stages of budget proposals. The RFP was completed and decided last semester. Blackboard was the company of choice. The project most likely will have three phases of implementation: Phase I includes ID card, Library, and Dining Services within the card; Phase II includes facility access, point of sale availability on campus, and vending machines; and Phase III adds ticket sales, copy centers, and remaining campus and community point of sales. The cost for Phase I and II is $290,000 to be implemented prior to Fall 2002. Phase III adds approximately $20,000 and would be completed by Fall 2003. This is all subject to change. If you have questions or comments, please contact Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., associate VP for student affairs.
