What is CAMP?

CAMP is the College Assistance Migrant Program, a unique educational program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. This program helps students from migrant and seasonal farm worker backgrounds succeed in college. CAMP students take classes, study, share housing, socialize and participate in many special activities.  The CAMP's  dedicated staff is committed to helping students succeed at TAMUK. This is a selective program with only 50 vacancies, available  per school year, some will be In-Residence and others will be Commuters.  While High School performance is important and part of the selective process, CAMP selections emphasize need, ambition, desire and commitment to succeed in higher education.

What does CAMP offer?


CAMP scholarships offer students college transition and first-year support services to help participants develop the skills needed to stay in school and successfully graduate from college. CAMP also offers educational and cultural trips, academic advisement and leadership development, the use of available books for certain freshman classes and in some cases financial assistance beyond the Pell Grant with housing, meals and stipends.
