STUDENT SERVICES

 

We are aware that it is the little things that make the biggest difference in your experience at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Obtaining your student ID, using recreational facilities, registering for courses, or even just obtaining a parking permit should all be easy - allowing you more time to concentrate on your studies.

ADVISING
Academic Advisors are available to assist you with your chosen degree.  They will develop a rapport with you as together you set up your degree worksheet or modify the worksheet you began with a Transfer Advisor at one of the community colleges in our area.  They will even help plan your entry into graduate school.  Your Advisor will be your partner in education as you go through your junior and senior years with A&M-San Antonio.

Academic Advisors are available by appointment Monday - Thursday and accept walk-ins on Fridays.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
Campus Activities coordinates the majority of the co-curricular opportunities for our students. It serves as the hub for all Texas A&M University-San Antonio student organizations and provides many services/resources. The office is responsible for activities such as registering organizations and helping student groups with operational assistance.

CAREER SERVICES
The Texas A&M University-San Antonio Career Services Center assists students in exploring and defining career options, developing job search strategies, identifying and networking with prospective employers as well as obtaining career-related work experience through internships and experiential education opportunities.

DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES
Disability Services for Students (DSS) assists with academic accommodations and provides auxiliary aids to registered students with disabling conditions, as defined by Section 504 and the Americans Disabilities Act of 1990, who are otherwise qualified to meet the institution’s academic requirements.

FOOD SERVICE
Local food vendors assist the campus by providing food service throughout the semester. Vendors may vary from semester to semester, but provide healthy and affordable food options for students. Vendors can be found in the Student Center located in the Administration Building.

Monday - Thursday 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

LEARNING ASSISTANCE
SMARTHINKING is an online tutoring service offered through Texas A&M University-San Antonio to all of our students. Click www.smarthinking.com for an overview of the online tutoring services and practice areas.

ORIENTATION
The New Student Orientation Program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio is designed to assist new students in their transition from their previous academic institution to Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

STUDENT COUNSELING
Student Counseling Office is readily available to students to provide counseling for personal, educational, and life-decision concerns.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & SUCCESS
The office of Student Engagement & Success is responsible for improving the quality of life for students and assisting them in attaining their educational goals; for promoting an environment which aids in the students' emotional, social, cultural and ethical development; and working with all academic colleges and departments as an advocate for students' rights.  The office of Student Engagement & Success oversees the creation and implementation of programs, services and activities which are consistent with the university's mission.

UNIVERSITY POLICE
The University Police Department’s main function is to serve the students, faculty and staff. The university police department also is charged with protecting university property, preserving the peace and maintaining civil order on campus while enforcing all federal, state and local laws as well as university rules and regulations. The University Police Department also provides security for all buildings on the main campus and daily patrol of the 545-acre university farm. Parking permits are required to park on campus and are available in the office. Call the University Police Department to report crimes or request assistance.
