Advisement and registration
New Students:
If you are a new student to the university, your acceptance letter will provide you with advisement and registration instructions.
New freshmen and transfer students with fewer than 20 hours should attend a Hoggie Days orientation session where they will be advised and registered.
Transfer students with more than 20 hours who have also passed all sections of TASP and are not in developmental classes should be advised in the department of their major area. After advisement, transfer students with more than 20 hours who were admitted to the university prior to the start of advance registration may register by phone. Those who were not admitted before advance registration started must register in their department.
Transfer students with more than 20 hours who have not passed all sections of TASP and/or are required to take developmental classes should be advised and registered in University College.
Continuing Students in University College:
- See an advisor in University College for placement in developmental classes.
- If you have selected a major, go to the department of major to register for the rest of your courses.
- Undecided or liberal arts students may register for all courses in University College
All Other Students:
- Advisement is conducted in the department of your major area.
- Once all holds have been cleared, you may register by telephone using the Javelina Hotline from 7a.m. to 7p.m. Monday through Sunday during advance registration.
