  2. Click on the “FACULTY” tab

Option 2:

  1. On our OIR website, www.tamuk.edu/oir, from the drop-down menu on the right…
  2. Click on the Data Requests tab
  3. Click on “SRI Summary Request Form”
  4. Complete form and submit

2. Can I tell how many students have submitted their survey during the evaluation period?

Yes. You will receive a periodic e-mail from the survey system with a listing of the classes you teach and the response rate. Dear Faculty Member,
The Student Rating of Instruction (SRI) system is now open. Students are receiving e-mail reminders twice a week if they have not responded to the survey. You can help improve the response rate for your class by reminding them to respond and to update their email accounts.
The current response rate for your class is shown below:

You may reply to this e-mail with any questions or concerns about the system. Thank you!

3. When can I see the actual survey results?

Normally, you will receive your actual survey results by e-mail 5 days after the semester (session) end. This summary is generated automatically by the SRI System.

4. What information is included in the survey results generated by the SRI System?

The number of students responding, and response breakdowns are provided for each question on the survey, by class section and includes all student comments.

5. What is the difference between SRI summaries automatically generated by the evaluation system and the ones generated by the office of IR?

Beginning Fall 2012, the summaries from IR accommodate the grade distribution. Also, IR summaries have comparative results; such as course prefix mean, college means, and university means. Due to the fact that Department Deans/Chairs also receive a copy of your results, student comments are deleted from their copies.

6. How is question 14 rated so it does not reflect a negative response?

Different from system generated summaries, IR summaries is reversed so that the question is not reflected in a negative response.

7. Why do I continue to receive SRI summaries during the 2nd 8-week sessions of the Fall and Spring Semesters for classes I taught during the 1st 8-week session of the Fall or Spring Semesters by e-mail, even though the session has ended? Are students still allowed to complete the SRIs for the 1st 8-week sessions?

No. SRIs are normally closed “ONE” day before the session ends.
Please rest assured that once the current session is closed, it is no longer available to students. Even though the link is active, if the student clicks on the link, they will receive an error message. >>>> insert image

8. When can students complete SRIs?

Students may complete SRIs beginning approximately “4 WEEKS” prior to end dates in the Spring & Fall Sessions and “15 DAYS” prior to end dates in the Summer Sessions.

9. Will students be reminded to participate in SRIs, in addition to my own reminders and incentives?

Students will receive an e-mail containing a link to the survey at the beginning of the survey period, and “TWICE A WEEK” until they complete the survey or until the closing date, whichever occurs first.  Announcements will also be made available on JNET, TAMU-K & OIR Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

10. If students complete a survey for the wrong professor, can it be reset and reopened?

Please contact OIR at 361.593.2244 or koir2000@tamuk.edu to discuss further details.

11. How can I encourage students to participate in the SRI process?

Please contact OIR at 361.593.2244 or koir2000@tamuk.edu to discuss further details.

12. If I offer extra credit for completion of the survey, how can the student prove their participation?

The survey is anonymous, but students can print a confirmation receipt after they've completed the survey. This receipt remains available to them as long as they keep the e-mail link for the survey and the surveys are still open.

13. I'm having difficulty getting into JNet or seeing the survey results. Who do I call?

Please contact the help desk at 361.593.HELP(4357).

The SRI evaluation is an anonymous process. Students receive an email generated by our office containing a link to the evaluation website. The email reminders are sent out twice a week to students’ university and personal email addresses until the evaluation is completed. They are able to fill out the form once and submit it online.

18. When will I receive my evaluation report?

A summary report is automatically generated by the SRI system for each course and sent to the instructor approximately 5 days after the semester ends.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions or would like any further information on the matter.

For Students

1. Is this survey anonymous?

Yes, this evaluation is completely anonymous.  Your responses will be kept confidential.  Please feel free to contact our office if there are any further questions.

2. Do professors have a way of seeing who filled out the survey?

Professors do not have a way of seeing individual students’ responses; they receive a weekly summary showing the percentage of students that have completed the SRI.  This is sent out in order for the professors to encourage participation from their students.  After the SRI period is closed, they will see the complete reports including comments, but no names or identifying information is included.

3. Will professors see the comments made on SRIs? When will evaluations be seen?

A summary report of SRIs, including comments, is provided to professors approximately 5 days after the end day of classes.

4. When will I be able to see my grades?

You should be able to see your grades in Blue & Gold once professors post them.  After completion of the SRI, any posted grades will be visible.  The period for posting final grades begins approximately a week before the last day of finals for the semester.  If you have questions concerning the timeline for submitting grades, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 361-593-2811.
