Award-winning bass trombonist to perform at A&M-Kingsville

Brian Hecht, an award-winning musician who has earned international acclaim for his bass trombone performances, will perform a guest recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 4 in the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall at A&M-Kingsville.
This free performance is open to the public.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Hecht has performed with several national and international orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, Hecht earned first place in the Edwards Big 12 Bass Trombone Solo Competition. Since then, Hecht was named the winner of the Eastern Trombone Workshop Quartet Competition and he also was named a finalist for the International Trombone Association Trombone Quartet Competition in Aarhus, Denmark.
Hecht currently plays bass trombone in the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. and is a regular member of the Washington Trombone Ensemble, where he performs with members of the Washington National Opera, National Symphony Orchestra and various Premier Military Bands in the nation’s capitol. Hecht, an Edwards Instruments Artist/Clinician, is currently completing a tour of eight major universities throughout Texas.
Dr. JooHyun Lee, lecturer of piano and music students Rolando Velzaquez, Emmanuel Garcia and Guillermo Rivera will accompany Hecht throughout the recital. Works by Fetter, Ewazen, Tchaikovsky, Koetsier, Mahler and Crespo will be performed.
