Javelina Fans Take NCAA DII Attendance Title

The Texas A&M-Kingsville football crowds were the biggest in NCAA Division II this fall.  An average of 11,989 fans attended the six home games.   The NCAA released the 2010  attendance figures last week.  The Javelinas out-drew Clark Atlanta (Ga.) by almost 500 fans a game.  Clark averaged 11,498 fans.

The Javelina figures are for  six home games, including the  NCAA Division II second round  playoff game with Northwest  Missouri. That game drew the  biggest crowd (13,660), by almost  5,000, of any of the 24 postseason playoff games.  West Texas A&M, in the  Lone Star Conference with the Javelinas, was third in the national statistics with an average of  10,760 fans a game.  Other LSC schools ranking  high were Abilene Christian, 12th (8,387), and Midwestern State, 14th  (7,674).
