Students in the College of Business Administration assisted one of their faculty members in winning one of the most prestigious holiday awards of the Harbor Lights Festival Illuminated Boat Parade, held Saturday, Dec. 4, in Corpus Christi.

Dr. David Neipert, visiting assistant professor in the management and marketing department, offered his sloop, Remembrance, for the students to decorate. He then entered it in the highly popular and competitive "Sailing Yacht" category. The group went on to beat entries from the Corpus Christi Yacht, Bay, Padre Island and Aransas Pass Yacht Clubs.

“Even before the score was tabulated, the announcer repeatedly congratulated the College of Business Administration’s entry over the P.A. system for a ‘great job,’” Neipert said. “Many of the yachts not participating in the parade sounded their horns in salute as we passed by.”

Students who participated in the decorating project include Cristina Solis, a senior international business major from Brownsville; Linh Le, a junior pre-pharmacy major from Dallas; J.D. Henshall, a senior accounting major from Skidmore; Jorge Folts, a senior finance major from Kingsville; and Christian Adame, a senior finance major from Saltillo, Mexico.
