Halloween is right around the corner, but the public can get off to an early start with an astronomer’s eye view of Halloween themed sites at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The university’s physics and geosciences department and the Kingsville Astronomical Society will host a free public viewing at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, through the 16-inch telescope in Hill Hall.
The theme for this viewing is Ghosties, Ghoulies and Globular Clusters. Objects that will be viewed include Jupiter, M13-the great globular cluster in Hercules, M11-the wild duck cluster, M20-the Trifid Nebula and the Little Ghost Nebula.
This is the second for three public viewings scheduled this semester. The final viewing this fall will be Thursday, Nov. 20.
