David Standish Named Executive Director, University Facilities

Effective immediately, David Standish has been named Executive Director, University Facilities after serving as interim executive director for several since May 1.

The executive director oversees the entire university facilities operation, including long range planning and assessment of the physical plant facility needs to include building and grounds maintenance, custodial services, utility systems, campus security, and facility management and utilization. The position oversees the Physical Plant, University Police, Engineering and Campus Planning, Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety.

Standish has been at the university since 1996. He was named director of the physical plant in 2002 and previously served as the physical plant assistant director and custodial services superintendent. Before working in the Division of Finance and Administration, he worked in the Division of Student Affairs as the student union and residence life custodian supervisor and superintendent.

Prior to coming to Kingsville, Standish served in the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer for over 21 years. His responsibilities included serving as an aviation maintenance officer, helicopter pilot, instructor pilot, maintenance test pilot, aviation logistics instructor, army airfield operations officer and active duty Reserve/Guard unit trainer.

Standish holds a master’s degree in aeronautical science and a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a current member and past president of the Kingsville Noon Lions Club, member of the Texas Association of Physical Plant Administrators, the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers and the Military Officers Association of America.
