Internationally Acclaimed Trombone Group Offers Free Performance, Master Class Feb. 12 at A&M-Kingsville

Award-winning brass ensemble Trombones de Costa Rica brings the music of its homeland to Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a free performance Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. in Jones Auditorium, located at 855 N. Armstrong.
In addition, music aficionados and students of all ages are encouraged to attend a master class hosted by the ensemble prior to the performance at 12:30 p.m. in Jones Auditorium.
Recipients of the Costa Rican National Award of Music, Trombones de Costa Rica (TCR) will perform a variety of musical works, from original classical pieces to the traditional rhythms of Costa Rica.
Formed in 1991, TCR has served as guest ensemble and faculty of the 2003 Brazilian and Latin American Trombone Festival, the 2001 and 2002 International Trombone Association Annual Festivals, the 2003 Eastern Trombone Workshop and the 2005 Big 12 Trombone Conference.
TCR has traveled extensively throughout North and South America, the Caribbean and Europe. In addition to ensemble recitals, TCR has performed as guest soloist ensemble with the Costa Rican National Symphony, the United States Army Band, the Oregon State University Symphonic Band, the University of Miami Wind Ensemble, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador and the San José National Band.
