KIII-TV Share Your Christmas Food Drive
The Texas A&M University-Kingsville music department invites the public to its second annual Christmas concert Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in Jones Auditorium, located on campus on Armstrong Street near the intersection of Santa Gertrudis Boulevard.
The concert will feature traditional and non-traditional music performed by the following music department student ensembles:
Wind Symphony, directed by Brian Shelton
Concert Choir, directed by John Ector
Low Brass Ensemble, directed by Dr. Yutaka Kono and Oscar Diaz
Jazz Band I, directed by Dr. Paul Hageman
Jazz Singers, directed by John Ector
Saxophone Quartet, directed by James Warth
Mariachi Javelina, directed by junior Sammy Posada and sponsored by faculty member Jeff Stone
Wind Symphony and Concert Choir Combo, co-directed by Brian Shelton and John Ector
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring items for the KIII-TV Share Your Christmas Food Drive and Toys for Tots.
Donated food items should be non-perishable and toys should be new and unwrapped.
“This concert represents our musical gift to the university and the community,” said Hageman, Regents professor of music and department chair. “It also is one way that the music department can help organize assistance for those in need at Christmas time.”
