The Spencers to perform family magic, illusion in homecoming show

As part of Homecoming activities at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, award-winning magicians Kevin and Cindy Spencer will bring their brand of magic and illusion to the stage at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Jones Auditorium. General admission tickets are $5 while A&M-Kingsville students with a valid identification card are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased in the Memorial Student Union Building at the first floor information desk or the third floor student activities office.

The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion brings to A&M-Kingsville cutting-edge illusions, choreography, comedy, scenery, lighting and music in a family-friendly production.

In January 2003, the Spencers made the Stanley Cup disappear for the National Hockey League’s kickoff to the All-Star Weekend. They made the cup reappear along with Hockey Hall of Fame legend Larry Robinson. In January 2006, they made Audio Adrenaline, a contemporary Christian music group, appear before a arena of cheering fans.

The Spencers’ high-tech stage show includes dazzling special effects, puzzling feats of skill, cutting-edge illusions and sidesplitting comedy. With one of the largest touring illusion companies in the United States, they transport more than 10 tons of equipment for their road show.

They have been named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year six times by arts presenters and college/university entertainment programmers across the nation, sharing the title with only one other magician, David Copperfield, and holding the title longer than any other performer. The Spencers have performed for sold-out audiences throughout the country, and in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
