Ordering a grande espresso con panna with a whip or a venti half-caf iced caffé latte will soon become as routine as ordering pizza or a burger and fries for students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Work is currently under way at the university’s Memorial Student Union Building (MSUB) to convert one of the food service areas into the newest Starbucks coffeehouse, said Nino Mendietta, director of the student union and activities.
“We are continually looking for things that will improve the level of service in the student union for the entire university community,” Mendietta said.
The new coffeehouse will be located in the main hallway on the first floor of the MSUB and will be open to students and faculty as well as residents of the community.
Mendietta added Starbucks will be open in time for the first day of classes, Monday, Aug. 28. It will be a full-service Starbucks operated by the staff of Sodexho, the food service operator at the university.
