Kingsville Noon Lions Club Shows Support

The Kingsville Noon Lions Club honored the Javelina softball team for its service and recognized scholarship recipients at its Dec. 13 meeting.

The club presented the softball team with a donation of $750 for its continuing community and club support.  Coach Jake Schumann, assistant coach Shana Riggleman, and team members Julia Canales and Sally Lozano accepted the donation on the team’s behalf.

The Javelina Softball Team has actively supported multiple Lions events for the last three years, including the annual Halloween Carnival, Bicycle Rally, the Eyesight and Eyeglass Programs, the Diabetes and Health Programs, and multiple other charitable programs.

The Kingsville Noon Lions Club also recognized two freshman scholarship recipients for the 2006-2007 academic year attending Texas A&M University-Kingsville.  Nicole Johnson graduated from H.M. King High School, and Durstin Hooper graduated from Kaufer High School, both in May 2006.  Each received an initial $1000 scholarship to attend Texas A&M-Kingsville for the fall semester. Each is eligible for a matching University Scholarship for the spring semester.
