Share Your Christmas

I just wanted to take up your time once more to say a big THANK YOU. Once again, the Share Your Christmas campaign went very well.

The campus community collected 500 food items and $722.15. Those are impressive totals!!! Some of the community went above and beyond the call, making generous donations.  You know who you are…thanks so much.

I was on the air on KIII-TV this morning and yes, it was cold. The largest amount of money came from College Hall. Athletics turned in the second largest amount, mostly in coins, from their competition between the teams. This year the Javelina softball team collected the most. Softball team members Sally Lozano, Julia Canales and Cassie Anderson braved the early morning cold with me to represent the university.

I also had impressive donations from the staff at the Jernigan Library and the Accounting Society who held a bake sale to raise the money. A special thanks goes out to the staff from KTAI who again this year collected and hauled boxes of food to HEB.

But the thanks don’t stop there. A round of applause goes out to my co-workers in public relations and publications that helped carry, count and collect all the food and money, especially our dedicated student workers.

Finally, I want to thank the student organizations and department representatives who assisted in the collection. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Since we gave our donation very early in the day, I don’t know how we compare to the other organizations in the Coastal Bend, but in my book, we are number one. The administration, faculty, staff and students at A&M-Kingsville proved again we are the best in South Texas.

Thanks again for all your help and support!

Go Hogs!!!
