First Hispanic master printer Ernest de Soto offers show, workshops in Kingsville
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ernest de Soto, the first Hispanic master printer, will be in Kingsville to open his two-week show and hold printmaking workshops in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The exhibit, Maestro Grabador, will open Tuesday, Oct. 10, and close Friday, Oct. 27. A reception honoring de Soto will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 10. Read more»

Hispanic Heritage Awards to be given for first time
Rosa Rosales, national president of LULAC, will be the keynote speaker at the Hispanic Heritage Banquet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the ballrooms of the Memorial Student Union Building (MSUB). Immigration forum sheds light on variety of border issues
Many different topics concerning immigration of documented and undocumented workers will be discussed at a forum beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Borders, Boundaries and Frontiers: A Forum on Immigration Issues is sponsored by the Hispanic Heritage Committee and the American Democracy Project and will be held in ballroom A of the Memorial Student Union Building. Provost and director represent TAMUK at Sino-American Initiative

Dr. W. Frank Hull IV, seated left, director of international studies and programs, and Dr. Kay Clayton, seated right, provost and vice president for academic affairs, met with members of Texas A&M-Kingsville’s faculty recently in preparation for the Sino-American Leadership Training Initiative organized through the auspices of the American Association of State Universities and Colleges. Providing their personal insights on recruitment of Chinese and Taiwanese students were, standing, Dr. Dazhi Sun, assistant professor of civil and architectural engineering; Dr. Jianhong “Jennifer” Ren, assistant professor of environmental engineering and Dr. Yifang Zhu, assistant professor of environmental engineering. Hull and Clayton traveled this week to Beijing, China, for the event, which also will include a public expo for students in the People’s Republic of China who are interested in attending American universities. |
