Memorial service set for Steven Crandall

A memorial service for Vice President for Finance and Administration Steven Crandall will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, at Church of the Epiphany, 206 N. 3rd St. Kingsville, Texas 78363, (361) 595-5535.

Arrangements are being handled by Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas 78363, (361) 592-9394. The mortuary indicates that no visitation has been planned.

The family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to the charity of your choice or to the Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Portwest Drive, Suite 100, Houston, Texas 77024; or to The Nature Conservancy, P.O. Box 1440, San Antonio, Texas 78295-1440

President Rumaldo Juárez also announces that Texas A&M University-Kingsville employees who wish to attend the memorial service are excused from work at 3 p.m., Friday, with the approval of their supervisor. Critical offices should continue to be staffed so that service is not interrupted.

Mr. Crandall died Tuesday, Sept. 13, at his home in Kingsville. A 1970 graduate of Texas A&I University, he was employed at the university for over 30 years. He was named vice president in 1990.

 

Lectures, movies, exhibits are among Hispanic Heritage events

Hispanic Heritage Month will kick off at Texas A&M University-Kingsville at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, with an occasion that combines annual events into one big celebration in the mall area of the Memorial Student Union Building (MSUB). This year’s theme is Hispanics and the American Dream: Their Historical Presence and Contributions to the Life and Culture of the United States. Read more»

 

Dr. Michelle R. Johnson-Vela recieves William J. Hall award

Dr. Michelle R. Johnson-Vela, associate professor of Spanish in the language and literature department of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, is the recipient of the William J. Hall Faculty Award for 2005-2006. Read more»

 

Constitution exhibit closes with birthday party, awards

It’s a party and everyone is invited. The John E. Conner Museum at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host a birthday part for the U.S. Constitution, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18. The celebration is scheduled as an end for the exhibits that have been in the museum’s west gallery honoring the Constitution. Read more»

 

Heaven & Earth can be seen at John. E. Conner Museum

An alumnus will come home this month with an exhibit of his own at the John E. Conner Museum at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Alfredo B. Cruz will display his photo-digital compositions beginning Monday, Sept. 25, and continuing through Tuesday, Oct. 24. His exhibit, Heaven & Earth, features cemetery angels in 20 black and white images. Read more»
