Movin' on up

Volunteers representing the administration, faculty, staff and student body of Texas A&M University-Kingsville assist during residence hall move in Friday, Aug. 25.

Nearly 100 volunteers have signed up to help including members of the senior staff. The movers will be working in three-hour shifts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The staging area for volunteers will be in front of the Turner-Bishop cafeteria located at 1210 W. Santa Gertrudis Avenue between Retama Drive and Seale Avenue.

This is the eighth year volunteers have been recruited to assist new students in moving their personal belongings into their rooms. They can be found carrying things like computers, clothes, pillows and the occasional teddy bear.

Move in day starts the Javelina Welcome, a week of back-to-back activities geared to help university students make new friends and get ready for the new school year.
