He is shown with Jan Melendez Robinson, project administrator for the consortium. A&M-Kingsville is one of over 40 institutions in the state that is designated as Hispanic-serving. The consortium is a group of Texas colleges and universities that the United States Department of Education has designated as having at least 25 percent Hispanic full-time enrollment with at least half of those low income. The purpose of the consortium is to provide an arena in which the institutions can work together, build partnerships, collaborate, establish working relationships and learn best practices.
