ROTARY WORKS IN MEXICO

Members of the Kingsville Rotary Club recently visited a residential senior citizen center in Monterrey, Mexico to perform community service as part of its fourth year of collaboration with Rotario Club San Nicolas de los Garza at Asilo Hermosa Provincia.

Members working in Monterrey were Dr. Richard Braley, assistant dean of the College of Education; Dr. Richard Hartwig, political science professor; Frank Ureño, dean of students; Dr. Mark Walsh, professor of educational leadership and counseling; Mary Cusack, wife of Joe Cusack, assistant to the dean of students; and Lisa Brown, wife of Dr. Dann Brown, dean of University College.

While in Mexico, the group installed a garbage disposal, purchased gliders for kitchen drawers, purchased paint and rollers, painted the ceiling of the front porch and the dining room, developed comprehensive interior and exterior design plans for the center, interviewed coordinators and residents about living conditions and developed a list of future projects at a joint meeting with the local Rotary Club.

The Kingsville Rotary Club also made a monetary donation of $1,000 to complete construction of a laundry room. The San Nicolas Club will match this donation. The meeting ended with the Kingsville club presenting their banner to the San Nicolas Club and the two clubs exchanging gifts.
