The days for faculty and staff photos have been rescheduled. The University Photographer will be taking faculty and staff portraits Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 14-16. A make up day will be set-aside for Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The photos will be taken in the photo studio in room 323 on the third floor of Jernigan Library.

Appointments will be made in 10-minute intervals from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Call Debbie at extension 2014 to make an appointment. If you had already made an appointment, please call to reschedule.

Wind Symphony tours San Antonio, culminating in special music conference performance with noted composers on hand

February 2006 should be remembered by the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Wind Symphony for many years to come. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 14-15, the group will perform at four different San Antonio high schools. Following those concerts, the Wind Symphony will prepare itself for a special performance at the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 12:30 p.m. in the Lila Cockrell Theatre of the San Antonio Convention Center. Sibs and Kids weekend brings family to campus

Students, faculty and staff at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will have an opportunity to host their younger siblings or children during the first Sibs and Kids Weekend, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 14. Read more»


Children's play Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also will premiere performance for remodeled Jones Auditorium Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.

The classic Roald Dahl story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been adapted for the stage by Dr. David Deacon, professor of theatre at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and will be the children’s play for the 2005-2006 theatre season. Read more»

 

Ranching Heritage Days scheduled at John E. Conner Museum

Ranching Heritage Days will be held Monday through Friday, Feb. 13-17, at the John E. Conner Museum at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The event will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Read more»

 

Students host V-Day Campaign

A group of women from Texas A&M University-Kingsville has scheduled several activities in conjunction with the production of the play The Vagina Monologues. Known as the V-Team, they will have a booth in the Memorial Student Union Building on Tuesday, Feb. 14, also know as V-Day. Read more»

 

Research Institute hosts distinguished wildlife professor for two talks Feb. 22

The Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute and Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host Dr. E.O. Garton, distinguished professor in wildlife science and visiting lecturer from the University of Idaho, for two presentations Wednesday, Feb. 22. Read more»

 

Assistant professor Dr. Chiung-Fang Chang contributes editing and writing to book that sheds new light on Chinese population policy

In 1979, China initiated a one-child policy to couples, in an effort to control the population numbers. The impact this rule has had on the entire makeup of Chinese society in the years that followed is the subject of the book Fertility, Family Planning and Population Policy in China. Read more»

 

College name change reflects new scope

Over the past 10 to 15 years, the scope of ranching in South Texas has expanded to not only include the livestock and farming areas, but wildlife and range management. To keep up with the changing region, the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences at Texas A&M University-Kingsville adapted curriculum and research to the point where 40 percent of the faculty identify themselves as having a wildlife or range management specialty.
