Awards, Honors and Accomplishments of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Campus Community

Indra Reddy (pharmacy) attended the “Evaluation of Faculty” workshop in Austin Jan.4-6. Upcoming is the 2006 American Association Colleges of Pharmacy Interim Meeting Feb. 26-March 1 in San Antonio.

Lynne Goeglein-Porter and Cynthia Horne (education) were awarded $7,500 by the Texas Education Agency/Texas A&M University-Texarkana for the proposal “Factors Related to Special Education Teacher Retention in High Poverty Rural South Texas Schools: A Survey of Experienced Special Education Teachers in High Poverty Rural South Texas Schools.”

Farzad Deyhim (human sciences) signed a subaward agreement for $19,990 with the Texas Agricultural Experimental Station for the proposal “Does Grapefruit Modulate Antioxidant Enzymes and Cholesterol Production by the Liver?”

Paula Maywald (Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute) was awarded $300,000 by the Lee and Ramona Bass Foundation for the “South Texas Natives Project”.

Mike Daniel (education) will be attending the 2006 National Association for Bilingual Education Conference in Phoenix, Arizona Jan. 18-21.

Thomas Hays (chemistry) was awarded $120,000 on behalf of his department from The Welch Foundation for a Chemistry Departmental Research Grant.
